avi FTP to Netgear R7000 / AC1900 problem
« on: January 06, 2015, 06:26:52 AM »

DCS-933L Firmware 1.03b08

My previous router was a Netgear WNDR3700. I uploaded avi files (motion detection) from my IP Cam DCS-933L to an USB stick in the 3700. Perfect.

Now I have a Netgear R7000 / AC1900 and the IP Cam is not able to create folders with FTP anymore. The IP Cam needs to make a folder per hour. The IP Cam is able to upload files (jpg). The problem is creating folders on the stick.

It's impossible to switch off the option of making folders for video. The CAM always makes folders for video files.

What is wrong?

I recommend that you check the configuration and support on the new router. If the 933L worked on the old router and doesn't with the new router, the configuration of the new router would need to be reviewed. Refer to the Mfr support site and forums for help and information regarding this...

Router is okay. I'm able to FTP with FileZilla and Internet Explorer. Both routers are configured the same way. I guess it's a CAM problem. Incompatible with the FTP level on the newer router???

You might try upgrading the FW on the Camera.

What region are you located?

FW v1.05 is available for download.  There were quite a few changes from 1.04 > 1.05.
I need to update the forum section on v1.05, but you can download the FW from mydlink.com/support.

I am scared to update to 1.05 because people have problems with motion detection with this version. At this moment 1.03 is great. And the changelist isn't mentioning anything about FTP fixes.

Today I tested with firmware 1.04 and 1.05. Both versions are not able to create a folder via FTP server on the Netgear R7000 (shared USB stick as FTP server).

I don't know what's wrong.

No, 1.03 is not working.
I was on 1.03 for a year together with my Netgear WNDR3700 router (no problems). But I got problems with the new Netgear AC1900/R7000 router.

I updated last weekend to 1.04 and 1.05, both fail to.

The IP Cam needs to make a folder per hour. The IP Cam is able to upload files (jpg). The problem is creating folders on the stick. Because for motion videos the Cam creates folders per hour it will not work. If I create the folders myself (-> date / time) it's working fine. The Cam has problems creating folders with FTP on the  Netgear AC1900/R7000.

Terrible.

We presume that if it worked with the old NG router and does not work with the newer NG router, that the issue maybe with the newer NG router and compatibility now.

Can you detail us steps that you use so we can try to replicate? We can try with my 933L and a D-Link router to see what happens.
Please be specific and detailed on the configuration steps and process.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

It's all very easy. Just try to upload motion detected video to a ftp server. My wndr3700 and r7000 both have the possibility to run a ftp server in the router. And it's possible to use an usb stick as storage. But don't tell me if a dlink router is working the netgear router is the problem!!! I can give my ftp credentials to upload to my r7000 router (it's also in the Internet) but I don't like to do that.
