I have a WANSCAM IP camera and a DCS932L on the same network both connected via wifi. They're both set up with their own ports, etc. so that I can access them remotely. I use a few viewers for remote viewing (phone, work pc, etc.) and the DCS932L constantly goes in and out whereas the WANSCAM stays solid.

At home when accessing the WANSCAM locally via it's IP (e.g. 192.168.X.X:port) it's snappy, pops right up, etc. Trying the same with the DCS932L the camera barely responsive. It acts like I'm trying to access a .gif loaded website over dial-up. I'm not sure what gives. Anyone else experience this or have some ideas as to what might be happening. I'm on the latest firmware (2.0.1b3 for the DCS932L).

I have a number of DCS-XXXL cameras and the newer model cameras (e.g. DCS-931L, DCS-5020L) definitely outperform the DCS-932L. On wireless, my DCS-932L behaves similarly to what you're describing.  Please keep in mind that the DCS-932L was released over three years ago and was succeeded by several generations of newer models.

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?

• Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
• Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many? Use v3, its free.

I should also note that if you move the DCS-932L closer to your router, the frame rate should increase.  With distance, the frame rate for my DCS-932L drops to a crawl, whereas my newer generation D-Link cameras at the same distance perform almost as well as if they were sitting right next to my router.

I can say with some confidence that the age of the underlying technology is the root cause.

Linksys. No interfering devices. About one floor between them. Linksys has 2.4 and 5ghz active but only our mobile phones can utilize the 5ghz so the cameras are on the 2.4. The camera sits above a sink, mounted to the wall. I believe JavaLawyer may be on to something as the other camera works fine (it's actually right above the router on the same floor as the D-Link. The 932L will go in and out and will have periods where the stream is fine and others where it's lagging far behind. It's what I could afford at the time. I might try setting the wireless channel from auto to something else just to test it.

Mixed for both now. 5Ghz was on N only.

5Ghz Mixed, Channel 48-5.24Ghz
2.4Ghz Mixed, Channel 11-2.462Ghz

Channel width is auto for both. I gave these a shot and the D-Link responds better. Going to monitor this and see how it goes.

Try setting 2.4ghz to Mixed G and N or single mode G or N as a test. If you don't have any devices that need G mode, you can run single mode N.
