So my DIR-880L is now bricked after a bad flash and stuck in recovery mode. It will allow me to upload a new file but it will not recover after the upload. I've tried quite a few options to recover but sadly all unsuccessful. I still have the annoying flashing orange power light deliberating haunting me!
I can ping the router but cannot telnet into it using an Ethernet cable. I assume my only option is to use a serial cable to try and erase the Nvram? I saw an earlier post on this but not specific instructions. I need to know the cable to get and the pins to connect to once the router is opened for life support. All basic instructions welcome.
Any help is appreciated.

- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
- What region are you located?
Try this:

I have tried the recovery options without any success. I think my only option is the serial cable route but I wanted the opinion from the smart folks on this forum.

If the recovery method didn't work then give the serial cable method a try if you know it. Other than this, not much else can be done from our side.
-
Does anyone have the detailed instructions to carry out the serial cable method and also recommend a the right cable to use?

We don't have any information regarding a serial cable connection.
You might try asking folks over on the DD-WRT forum about this or recovery of the NVRAM portion of the router.
