I purchased two months ago a DAP-1520, and I am very unhappy about the lack of features that I consider too basic nowadays for any Wi-Fi device.
1) It does not have any way to disable the WPS, which I consider an unforgivable security flawless
2) It does not have any way to manually select the Wi-Fi channel for both frequencies. And the autoselect is so dumb that insists to overlap the channel of my DIR-868l router.
Honestly, I'll never, ever buy a dlink product again. Period.

Flawless or flaw? In this version of DAP, we find that the UI is similar to the DIR-880L which teh new UI has been introduced. The WPS feature on this DAP and on the 880L has been fixed so no "flaw" in security when using WPS is seen anymore from what I've been told by D-Link. D-Links new approach is to let the WPS be automatic. When it's in use, it's active, when it's not in use, it's idle. Theres no security risk in this approach. D-Links new UI is using a more simplified approach to the older granular UI.

Since this DAP is an extender mode unit, there isn't any need to change channels. Since this is a "Extender" model DAP, working in this mode, it should connect to the same channel as the main host router is on and not a different channel. Or it wouldn't work. In Extender or "Repeater" and even units with "Bridge" mode, those unit connect to the same mode and channel as the main host router. Thats how ti works. Now in stand alone AP mode, channels have to be different. Which doesn't apply to this model DAP.
Honestly, I'll never, ever buy a dlink product again. Period.
Maybe a better understanding of how your DAP, Router and WiFi works is needed here before calling it quits. I have tested many D-Link products and they all work well. Some have different features and not all the same features or UIs either. They work well though.
