Sorry about that experience. There isn't any need for doing what we've already done.

Is there a local computer store with a refund policy like Best Buy or Frys? You could go there and get you one as a temp solution. They usually have a 15-30 day return policy. Check first. Then return the DIR-826L to Amazon.

I might phone back if they gave you a case number from D-Link and talk to a different person and tell them that we've walked you thru most of the troubleshooting and FW updates and still not working and just need to RMA it.

Did you get a case number from D-Link?

That's what I told her.  It seemed to go in one ear and out the other.

Unfortunately, no.  The closest store is about an hour away, and I'm on emergency call at the hospital 24/7, so I can't be more than 30 minutes from work.

I most certainly did get a case number, and I'll be calling back tonight.  It already messed up this morning, while my computer was off.

Send me a PM with your case number and I'll forward it to my contact at D-Link, maybe we can get you a cross RMA router to you then you can just send this one back after the new one is in place. I can't guarantee anything at this point. Worth a try...

Thanks for trying, but it didn't help.  Of course, I have to wait until close to 9pm CDT, so I end up talking with someone in India who probably doesn't know your contact.  I called again tonight, and had to walk through changing the 5GHz band to a different channel (as if that's going to affect my Xbox that's wired), changing the WAN speed from Auto to 100MBs, and wanting me to contact "the Xbox manufacturer to get all settings that need to be changed." -- in spite of me telling her that I already did.  It didn't matter how many times I asked for Level 2 support or a RMA #, she said I wouldn't get a RMA because all of my other wireless devices are "working" (if you call the 5GHz band hanging and going nowhere "working.").  Only after her changes didn't work was she willing to escalate the call.   >:( >:( >:( >:(

Oh, well.  I'm going to bed.

One quick question, when your trying to watch the video on the xbox wired to the router, are the other devices ON or OFF during this process? Just curious.

The result is the same.  Yesterday morning, the Xbox disconnected even though the PCs were off.  Last night, the desktop was on (laptop is not used very often) .  Same problem.  My boys timed it, and the Xbox would only stay connected for 2-3 minutes.

Ok. I've pasted this onto my contact at D-Link. I hope to get some response soon. Sorry about the phone experiences. Can chance you could attempt one more phone call today before 5pm your time? I'm kind of hoping that you can get connected with U.S. support.

Also can you give details of which videos that the xbox is trying to stream? Dash Board videos? Market videos?

And can you do one more thing, do a factor reset with in the xbox System/Network settings and test once again when you have time.

Xbox video app, Amazon Instant Video App, Hulu Plus app, Dashboard video of the Xbox One...

I had to do that to clear out the manual settings I had put in there, but I'll give it another shot...

Level 2 support called today, and I actually spoke to someone in the US!  They are sending out a router and I'll RMA this one when the new one gets here.  Unfortunately, I think they're sending the wrong one, as the RMA request lists a DIR-636L instead of a 826L.  I guess I'll be calling them again in the morning, but at least we're making progress!

Well, the RMA department messed up which router was supposed to be sent to me, so I called and had to leave a message.  The recorded message said I would receive a call back in 1 business day.  A week later... no call.  I called again to get the router issue straightened out, and they wanted to put a hold for $130 on my credit card (the old MSRP).  That doesn't sit well with me, so I'm getting that taken care of when they fix the MSRP today.  Hopefully, I'll get the new router by Friday.
