This is also an issue with the DIR-880L.  There is no way to purge the list other than by factory resetting.  Subsequently when the Device Naming does not translate through to the Device Name on a DAP-1620 extender.  So frustrating.

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What browser are you using?

isn't 1.08 still beta?  the release notes say not to upgrade unless i am having issues that the release specifically fixes.

there is no indication that 1.08 add dhcp reservation limits anyways.

It is. It's safe to update. You can always down grade.

Names of clients connecting to an extender or access point will not show up in your router. It doesn't work like that. The extender is the client of the router. The clients are clients of the extender. No reason for names to be transferred to the router.

The bigger issue is not the naming, but the fact there is a way to small limit on the number of DHCP reservations and that this table can only be purged via a FW upgrade or factory reset.

You should be able to remove the reservation or naming by clicking on it. I agree 24 is not enough.

I will try to upgrade tonight and advise.  I am pretty sure 1.08 doesn't change anything according to other forum topics (see DIR-890L).

You should see grayed out device tiles on the list at the bottom. You should be able to remove them. This was fixed on the 890L.

That would be awesome.  Even just changing a device name takes up a DHCP reservations spot.

I do not have any greyed out devices.   It would appear it is still an issue on the 880L.

This using v1.08?
Please post a screen capture if your clients list:

You should see something similar to this:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=59562.msg275717#msg275717
Some tiles will be greyed out for devices no long connected to the router if they were reserved. You can still select on the pencil and edit the tile and remove the reservation and save the change. The tile should go away then.

I just checked my 880L. I have one reservation there and that device isn't connected. I selected it, removed the reservation, saved and then the tile disappeared.

One suggestion for making reservations. Off load your IP addresses and save Reservations for those devices that really need to be managed by the router or need much internet access. Devices like printers, NAS, cameras, some phones and controllers and such, set a STATIC IP address ON the device out side of the default IP address pool. Static IP address start at 192.168.0.2 thru .99 and .201 thru .254. This will help save on the limited area for using Reservations.

Ya, I agree, D-Link seems to be the only Mfr that limits there reservations to 24. Been like this for a while.  :-\ Would be nice to see up to 50 maybe.  ::)
