Hi guys. I was thinking, that since there always seems to be a feedback thread for the latest american firmware, we should have one too. So.. Did the 1.31EUb02 firmware fix anything for you?
It seems to be working a lot better for me than the 1.30EU firmware. The router hasn't died from torrent traffic yet and the wireless is very stable with no dropouts so far.. How about you?
-
Well, let me try to type English ;D
Got my 655 for 1 month now, after one week i updated the original firmware to 1.30 what is on the Dlink site.
After that, my usb harddrive often stops responding, power off/on the harddrive causes the 655 to reset.
???
Yesterday i updated to the latest beta, until now it works very well.

Hi, Norway calling here!
I've had my DIR 655 for a couple of years now, always updated the FW. Have a fiber-line 30/30 Mbit/s. Flashed my 655 yesterday, and it has been on full throttle since then for testing. Connection Up Time : 0 Day 23 Hour 24 Min 59 Sec. Have no problem ever so fare. I'm also cabling 3 of all my PC through a wall-point, via a D-Link switch and measuring/testing om one of the machines wired to the switch. Measuring over 30/30 all the time. ;D I've upgraded from FW to 1.30EU 1.31EUb02. I have Win7 Professional English version on all my PC. All on wireless also - as always - functions well.
-
If I try this one I can still go back to 1.21 right ?
The 1.21 firmware seems to be the most stable for me, 1.30 wasn't a success the router needed to be reset every few days.
-
when is the full version 1.31 out and if i have the beta will i be able to upgrade to the proper version when that comes out?
cheers
-
Yes you can downgrade or upgrade your router when using this last version.
EU firmwares do not have a limitation, only if you switch to NA firmware 1.3x you can't go back to EU versions.
-
Thanks ;D
-
cool cheers 8)
-
i'm so glad to be back to eu firmware. i never use NA firmware again.
Yes i downgrade from 1.33 na
-
I have 1.30EU do you recommend me to upgrade it to this version?
regards

Yes, as this version corrects the HNAP security bug, you should update.

Almost 3 days now without problems. Looks like a keeper this time. :D
Firmware updated easily from 1.21, settings restored nice with the old config save.

Still up both wireless and cabled as in post above from 10 days ago, and no bugs or problems! ;D

Does any of you have the same experience as I do, namely that when you enter some bogus address in your browser (e.g. http://bla), it automatically goes to a search page at http://www1.dlinksearch.com (powered by Yahoo)?
I don't like that…
Another little bug I encounter is that logging in does not work properly when using the <Enter> key after typing the password. It only works by clicking the <Log In> button. The error message is "Invalid password, please try again." (which I even get twice in a popup screen!). This is in Safari on macosx 10.6.2
Otherwise this update seems to run well…
== edit: clarification==
using the <Enter> key after filling in the passwd does log me in, but only after showing that error message, and with a lag.

Disable advanced DNS services and you won't get it anymore.
Already more than 3 days online with this firmware and still no bugs.
-
good firmware thanks

Thanks alien, that solves it!

this firmware seems to make my wireless slow

thats why we are here, to help each other.

It has been 3 days since update : Much better performance if you compare with 1.30EU, no drops , better file transfer rate on LAN
I am happy :)
-
it wont damage my router if i have upgraded or downgraded the firmware a few times will it?
-
No, you can down- or upgrade a few times more ;D
-
Has anyone tried torrent performance with this firmware?
-
not extensively, couple of small torrents went well.
-
The only way I get it to behave is if I limit the total connections to less than 100 total and the number of concurrent transfers to be 3 or less. Otherwise, the router will keep the torrent connection alive but nothing else will work. It gets to the point that the only thing that fixes the connection is pulling the plug, waiting about 20 secs and then plugging back in.

Yes i downgrade from 1.33 na
How did you do that?
I have 1.31NA. If i try to load 1.31EU i get:
The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this device, or the uploaded file may be corrupted.
If the uploaded file is correct, it is possible that the device may be too busy to properly receive it right now. In this case, please try the upload again. It is also possible that you are logged in as a 'user' instead of an 'admin' - only administrators can upload new firmware.
The Gateway will not be reprogrammed.

First downgrade via the links supplied in the general (one level) up thread.
After this you can downgrade/upgrade to what you want.

I guess I'm missing something. Where are download links one level up? ???

Just to inform you i did go back to the 1.31EU version but found that it was not stable (enough).
Running 1.33NA regular release (same as latest beta) and in general above 1 day uptime.
Also note that my A4 seems to suffer from heat issues. Mounted a CPU blower to keep it cool.
Fortunately the router was a gift from a colleague so for me it is an experiment to try anything that makes it work:)

My A4 is standing upright in its stand for better heat dissipation and it won't become to hot.
But as I saw there are same ceramic heatsinks mounted on CPU and switch - and perhaps not the best ;)
So if its only an experiment for you, you may try to exchange them with a chipset cooler set (Coolermaster, Zalman, Revoltec etc.). I have good experience with this cooling down my older NAS CPU.

When do we get the final?
-
up 8 days with 1.33NA.

Guys? Did anyone try Wake-On-LAN over internet? Since updating to 1.31EU I can't get this to work anymore :-\ Seems to be a bug in this latest firmware...
-
Since I updated my firmware yesterday from 1.11 to 1.31b2 I noticed that my screenupdates in LOGMEIN remotecontrol from my work location is extremely slow.
Normally it would work quite fast. Anybody else has experienced this issue?

ok, ik was my own stupid fault! I had enabled traffic shaping, because it was needed for enabling the QOS engine. But I didn't know what the traffic shaping did further, so I left it at the default Manual uplink speed of 128kb/s.
Tip: don't do that ;)
