On this camera, the specs says it has "A high powered white light LED is also built into the DCS-2136L, which helps to illuminate areas with low or no light and provides vibrant color images. Combined with the passive IR sensor which can be used to trigger the white light LED, the DCS-2136L makes an affordable surveillance and security monitoring device."
I plan on using this camera as a baby cam. Will this white LED be visible to the human eye? Does the camera have a traditional IR light that's not visible to the human eye? Rather not have a light shining on the baby while its trying to sleep ;D
If it does have a traditional IR light for night vision, can someone explain to me how the IR light and the white LED work?

I don't have any experience with this model camera. I've forwarded this onto a couple of people to see if they can provide some answers. You may want to phone contact D-Link and ask them directly if answers here are not provided in a timely manor.

I believe so it'll be seen. It doesn't make sense otherwise.
There are a couple reviews online, but even from those no one says anything about it.
The price of this cam has come down considerably since it's introduction. I think i saw around $216 @ b&h photo recently.

Looks like a standard led covered over in white.
If it's enough for you to walk around in the dark or wake up babies remains the question.

I'm on my phone (gs note 3).the icons are so small.

Got an email from someone from D-Link Business sales. He says "The DCS-2136L produces an actually white visible light to illuminate vs our other infrared where you would only see a red hue."
So, won't work as a baby monitor since its a visible light...

Hi there!
Is it possible to let the white LED turn on if movement has been detected but only at night? I'd like to have it that it won't turn on if there's daylight and also won't be switched on all night long.
And:
Is it possible to record larger files than 5 MB? The video clips are very short due to the file size limitation. Is there a solution for this issue?
