Strange issues I've encountered with this device
« on: August 05, 2015, 02:55:18 PM »

I've been using this D-Link 505 device as a WiFi repeater since the last 2 years.
I have two WiFi services. The first is by MTNL. The set up works always and I can use the repeater, but if I connect to my router, I'll have to wait for atleast 30 minutes before I'm able to connect to the Internet through the repeater.
The IP address of the router is 192.168.1.3
The IP address of the repeater was 192.168.0.1 before setting it up. After setting it up, the IP address has changed to 192.168.1.3
My second connection is grown Hathway. When I try to configure the repeater to this connection, I get the "Obtaining IP address" dialog which refuses to go away. I cannot connect. The IP address of the router is 192.168.0.80
Could anyone please help me out? :(
I have the hardware version A1 and I've updated the firmware to 1.10

Link>Welcome!

What is the MFr and model if the main host router? If the 505 works with the one ISP service and does not work with the other router, then possible issue with this one router...

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?

  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Ensure that different SSID names are used between each WiFi 2.4/5Ghz radios. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighbouring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?
  • 2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
  • 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N or AC on 5Ghz?
  • Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
  • Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions.
  • What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many? Use v3, its free.

The hardware version is A1
The firmware is 1.10
India
Wireless
Yes
Yes

Both of the routers are DHCP. The other router is a dlink 600m. And is there any solution for the conflicting ip address with the first router?
It seems that every time I change the IP address in the LAN settings panel, my DIR 505 device stops working. My computer and phone aren't able to connect to it. They just get stuck on the "Obtaining IP address part"

You need to leave the main host routers IP address alone or if you need to change the routers IP address, you'll need to reset up the 505 as the configuration changed on the main host router.
