I have been using a D-link DCS-930L for 2 years accessing it through the internet after manual configuration. I decided to create a Mydlink account in order to access the camera through the Mydlink Lite app on my phone.
I installed the latest firmware (1.12 h/w A) on the camera, downloaded the latest setup wizard and proceeded through setup. The software checks for updates first, then searches for, and finds, the camera. It asks for the admin password and accepts it. It displays the choose a connection screen. It lists the current connection as wired. I choose wireless connection and it begins searching for networks, finds none, and sets the wireless drop-down box to "Others". That was my first clue something is wrong. Windows 8.1 lists several networks available. I proceed to enter the name of my wireless network in the box titled "Wireless name." I chose WPA2-PSK as the security. The wizard automatically sets encryption type to AES. I enter my wireless password, which is 21 characters long, and click the "next" button.
At this point, a pop-up box declares "Wireless password only support 8-63 ASCII characters or 64 HEX." Well, if I am not mistaken, 21 characters falls between 8 and 63. So I try setting the camera up as a wired connection.
The wizard goes through the motions, checking for an internet connection. It then asks if the LED on the cloud camera is lit solid green. It is. I click "next." It goes to the configure your internet screen "How do you connect to the internet?" I select "dynamic IP address (DHCP). It saves the network settings. It restarts the network. It checks internet connection. Pop-up declares "Could not connect to the internet. Click close, then check your settings." However, I am still on the internet, what gives!
I am on my last straw. I am beginning to think the best solution is to buy a different brand camera.
