Title: How to increase speed?

I have ClearWire ISP.  I plug directly from modem to my laptop and run SpeakEasy and get about 3Mbps.  When I run from modem to WBR-1310 to laptop (wired and wireless), I get less than 1Mbps.  What can I do to optimize the router to get 3Mbps?
