Title: DCS-936L and motion detection - firmware update?
Post by: martinthorhauge on July 27, 2017, 10:57:22 AM
Hi there.

Just bought this camera yesterday and been using several hours adjusting motion detection because i got false alarms a lot of the time. Been reading several threads in this forum about this issue and about beta firmware update. I can see in another thread that the new beta hasn't cured all motion detection issues?
So -  Should i update now or wait?
My currently firmware version is V1.02-2026
Camera is placed so that it does not point towards a window. However, light and sun comes in from side windows and this is seen in the motion detection area of the camera.

Any ideas of how long a range motion detection should work on this camera? Seems like i have to be within 2-3 meters(~8 feet) before it triggers an alarm.

Another minor issue that i have found is when you turn off motion detection in the app and afterwords turn it on again it resets the sensitivity to 30%(default) - This is quite annoying and could have been nice if it stored your setting so that you shouldn't set the value each time you turn on motion detection. Any workaround for this issue?

Regards Martin

The beta cures the false detections however for me and others, we no longer get any detections. So up to you if you want to try the beta or now. D-Link is aware of this.

I'm from Europe(Denmark)

I do not seem to win a lot by updating firmware at this time if it just causes another problem.

Do you know if D-link is working on correcting this error in firmware? I would like to keep the camera but not at all costs and still have the opportunity to return it.

It's a cheap barebones camera.  If you like the image, keep it and use it to record 24x7 to a microSD card and get a different camera.  Start a collection.  ;)
