No Internet connection after modifying Connected Clients
« on: December 26, 2016, 09:49:35 AM »

I tried to modify the connected Clients to give different names and to reserve IP address for my devices. However, After modifying and saving, the modified devices can no longer access the internet (no Internet connection). They include wired device (MagicJack) and wireless device (Nexus 6P smartphone). I did try to reboot my devices and power-cycle the router along with modem. None of them helped. But those un-modified clients were still working properly. In the end, I had to do hard (factory) reset the DIR-880L router to make my devices to re-connect to the router again.

DIR-880L is my third D-Link routers after DIR-614 and DIR-625. With my old router, I had used "DHCP reservation" to change device names and reserve IP addresses. with DIR-880L, where can I find the "DHCP reservation List" on DIR-880L?

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

I recommend trying the newer FW update: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=65883.0

What browser are you using to manage the router? I recommend IE11 or FF.

On the clients page, once you select and edit the name and use the slider button to "reserve" the IP address, a client tile will appear at the bottom of this page.

Thanks a lot. It now works after using IE11 to manage the router :D. I was using Chrome, maybe Firefox, which gave exactly same, visually, user interface and slider button.

Kind of disappointed that D-Link has significantly changed the UI to more graphic ones, although it is indeed easier for first timers, it has lost some features and controls that old D-link (DIR-625) routers have, and adds limitation on which browser to use :'(

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help.

Ya, D-Link has gone to the new UI from the old one. I believe that v1.08 helps with some browser issues. Just be aware that it's not always D-Links problem with browser mfrs make changes to there browsers. Google has impacted some add-ons on there browser thus limiting usage ability with some D-Link products, mainly cameras. Thats why I use IE11 and FF mostly.

Enjoy.  ;)
