Title: Recording Sound
Post by: spacequakes on November 30, 2016, 11:35:04 AM
Hello, So far, I am very happy with my little DCS-936L camera.  I would like to somehow not record sound but can't seem to do it.  I did click on the speaker icon to mute the sound but when I play back a clip the sound comes through.  Any input would be appreciated.  Thank you, in advance.

Hi FurryNutz, status seems to be unchanged.  I haven't seen any response yet.

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
HW Ver.: A1
F/W Ver.: 1.01 (but when clicking on "i" from within app, it says current firmware is v1.02-2026)
Region?  As in Central Massachusetts?
Router, Netgear WNR1000 v2.

I presume your at home and on the LAN side of the router when your trying to listen to sound?
I know it should work like this as I do get sound with my 933L on my phone app while at home on the lan side.

What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?

I am only able to view the camera by means of apps on tablet & phone.  I still have xp for computer & cannot view the camera on the d-link site because of it.

Ok, so the apps work while your at home and you can hear sound while using them at home?

Ya, XP isn't supported. Best if you can find a cheap used Windows 7 PC some place.

When I use the apps, if I am watching live, I have them muted & hear nothing.  But if I do a playback from another time, that is where I hear the sound.  It is this sound, on recorded playback, that I would like to not have.

The app only controls sounds on the device and no where else.

You have to go into the cameras f/w and turn it off. Page 33 of the manual.
