DCH-S150 registration
« on: August 09, 2016, 01:25:57 AM »

Hi all,

bought a motion sensor and was happy with it.

Because it worked so good, I bought another one. Did a reset on both units and wanted to setup my installation.
Could register both sensors in my network, but as soon as I wanted to add one of them in my app, entering the pin
(accepts it) my app (android) asked for the time zone, I confirm, give it a short name and press finish, the green circle
starts to spin, after a while it comes back with the message that was a problem to add the device to my account.

Please try again...

If I terminate the app and start it again, it immediately reports that it found a new device, I enter the pin, time zone
give it a name and see the spinning circle and after a while the error report comes up, there is a problem, I should
try again...and again...and again...

So, it looks like, the given name (and I tried all kind of variations) can not be registered at my account at dlink.
If I login via the web https://eu.mydlink.com/device there are no devices registered.

More info: In my router I can see the IP address of my DCH-S150 plus the name I have given it, nevertheless, the app
can not add the device to my account.

Anyone has a clue for me please?

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Thanks for that. I am in Austria, could not find any phone number, but had a very long web-chat with a support guy.
We did the device set-up, step-by-step - ended at the same last step that could not be finished. Btw., I did access via
web interface the sensor (first readout of the IP of the sensor in my router, login with PIN code) and gave him all details
by copying over. He gave me a support ticket and promised a reply by email within the next days.

Once again, my impression, the last step is that the app should register the name of my sensor in the cloud (web account)
of dlink. And this does not work.

I will report here, if dlink came back with a solution.

Ya, I don't see a number to call there either. Hope the chat ticket will work well for you. Keep us posted on progress.

There may be a problem with the device association to the mydlink® HOME Cloud services.

Could you please follow these steps:

1. While one of the devices is connected to the network (make sure to disconnect the other), using a pin, push the RESET button for about 10 sec to reset it
2. Allow the unit to reboot and begin blinking orange again... about 1 min.
3. Run the setup again making sure that only one device is connected to the network a time.

if successful, disconnect this device and do that same to the second one, making sure only one is on the network at the time of the setup.

if both are successful, you can reconnect the other and enjoy your devices. if you still having the same issues. Your local D-Link support group may be able to help clear the devices from the mydlink® Home Cloud Service in order to reattach them again.

Just to clarify, the mydlink® HOME devices do not show up on the listing at the mydlink portal. The portal displays cameras and routers only.  The HOME devices only list under the mydlink® HOME App.

Let us know how it goes.

Received an email from dlink support. It was more or less the procedure that is  in the (full) manual.
Yes, there is a 'full' manual and a short version. One has to find this. GOOGLE as a friend ;-)

In the email sent by the support, they suggested to reset and go through the manual procedure, no
WPS, step by step with the registration until the light is green on the DCH-S150.

Then wait for at least 2 minutes !!!

and after this continue in the app by giving a short name name for the device. They said, during this
2 min the device should register at the server - and YES, that was the solution for both of my devices.

with best regards from Vienna / Austria

Sounds like the wait 2 minutes is needed when adding more than one of the same model. Glad it worked for you and it's working.

Enjoy.  ;)

one by one, step-by-step, as I tried at the very beginning did not work.
apparently the 2 min wait time was required. So I had the two working after this setup procedure.

Enjoy.  ;)

unfortunately I can not enjoy. unplugged both units for two hours. tried again
to plug both into mains. One of them shows 'offline'. But both are connected to my router.
Checked this in the router menu and used the app 'Fing' in Android. Both DCH-S150
having an local IP and are connected to the router.

So I logged off in my app, plugged out / plugged in both sensors, waited until they show green.
Logged in at the app, waited for 3 min, both of them show 'offline' in my app.

The message: 'Your device can not register (login) in the Internet...
(german language, I tried to translate..) if I tap on one of them in the 'my devices' tab.

I think the problem is still the communicatio between sensor and the dlink server in the cloud.
If a unit can not register at the server, timing or whatever problem, I see it 'offline'.

For the time being I GIVE UP. The sensor setup is unreliable and unpredictable - wasted money :-(

with best regards from Vienna / Austria

Just curious if you had them online and running, why did you power them off for two hours?  ???

Did you plug one in first and test to see if you could access it then wait 2 or more minutes before plugging in the next unit?

plan was, to have them programmed, prepared and if we leave the house for a day or more to set
it up as an alarm. I did not want to have them sucking power all the time. Looks like that does not work.

Btw. now I removed both devices from 'my devices' (swipe to the right, click on trash bin) and started
the registration process all over. Did wait as suggested by dlink support - NO, this does not work again.
Entering a name and try to finish - green circle for a while and the message that it can not register the
device in my account comes up again.

If I terminate the app and log in my account again it says immediately 'A new device has been found..'
It goes to the screen where one has to give a name for the device. Entering a name and try to finish
 - green circle for a while and the message that it can not register the device in my account comes up again.

I'll see if we can get some more information on this. I do agree that once they are set up, I presume they should reconnect to the service if they are powered off then back on at a later time or date once they are fully registered and associated.  ::)

Yesterday I had to give them the serials during my support chat. Guess, they
have deleted the two serial numbers in their database. So this morning I had
the chance to register the two devices again.

There is a bug - either in the device, or in their server for re-register.
Right now I have no chance to bring them alive, whatever I try.

I would contact them again on chat and tell them what you did and see if they can help you figure this out. This sounds like something with the device or the service. Seems like a service issue maybe. If you got them connected once, they should be able to re-connect again...

And, is the problem solved? I have the exact same issue with my DCH-S160's after a firmware upgrade. Now already waiting for one and a half week for reply from the tech support, but now answer.

Thanks in advance!

I recommend phone contacting D-Link support for more immediate response.
