Title: DIR-655 Wireless Router with USB External Storage Access
Post by: pilsnermonkey on December 04, 2013, 12:12:31 PM
Have a new DIR-655 HW Ver. B1 FW Ver. 2.10NA. Trying to connect external Seagate 3 TB GoFlex Drive. Shareport Ver. 4.20. Shareport says it is connected to drive over network and the drive 'is available' but I get repeated 'Connection Failed' messages. Have never been able to connect to drive to read or write files. Documentation sadly lacking for mapping a drive. Win 7 Ultimate.

Day 2 of trying to resolve. If I'd a known setting this up was going to be a full time job....

Where is the complete documentation? How do I get this drive visible on my network?

Region = Canada.

Tried a 16GB Flash Drive with FAT formatting.

Shareport says 'Connection to USB Flash Memory Failed.'

Reformatted Flash Drive NTFS, same message: 'Connection to USB Flash Memory Failed.'

Thanks for the replies. :-*

Max 500GB? Seriously?

I just tested my 655 B1 with v2.11 last night with a NTFS 250Gb drive last nite and it worked. However I was on a Mac. I presume my Windows 7 x64 PC would have seen the same thing.

If you choose to update to v2.11, please follow this:

Thanks for your time and assistance FurryOne. Sure appreciate this. I've decided to return the product and have ordered a router that will more suit my needs.
