Dir 826L and Shareport Mobile
« on: December 10, 2012, 07:56:48 AM »

I have the latest FW 1.02 I have windows 8 I have setup my account in  the router using 8181. On my Android phone I have the latest version of Shareport Mobile. In the SP mobile program  setup I used the user name and password that I setup in the Shareport account. I then have tried http://192.168.0.1:8181 and also the ip address of my cable co. The shareport program can't find the device. What am I doing wrong.
I used the manual setup in the Storage area. Do I need to setup DNS account as it requests in the Wizard setup? Help I'm using a usb drive in the router.

Link>Welcome!

Is the USB drive being recognized by the router when you configure it on the routers web page?
What permissions did you give access too and did you give root access or specify any specific folders?

I know I need to try this out on my 865 when I get home. I do have a 250Gb USB drive connected at the moment and I think I used root access. I haven't turned on remote access yet however I remember looking at it. Has remote access been set up for the storage?

The router sees the usb drive as usb/A1. The Shareport Utility sees the the two files in the drive. The Shareport Mobile does see the drive or the router.

So SP mobile does see the drive and the router but not the files?

So I enabled by 250Gb USB drive connected to my 865L and set up a user account for my self and gave ROOT access, saved settings and rebooted the router. I put some files on the drive, text, video, photos, music and such on the drive. After the reboot. I opened SP mobile on my iPhone 4S and all the files were seen and usable. I think I need to find other video files that are smaller, would play the MKV files. Did play the music ones and test and pdf files displayed. I'm not using any reserved IP addresses. Most of the settings are default right now as I haven't changed any thing as I want to see how this thing run out of the box. I presume using the same process on the 826 should work.

Keep us posted.

My Shareport mobile DOESN'T See the router. I have tried both the router address and my cable ip address. Also used Admin and my password and the user name and password I used in setting up Shareport on the router setup Storage page.

You might want to un-install SP from your phone then re-install it again and test.
Ensure your phone is getting a reserved IP address from the router.
You might want to set WiFi security to disabled temporarilty while testing SP.
Does QRS app see the router? I used this app to initally set up my 865L. IF this app fails to see the router, I might presume there is something wrong with the phone/installed app.

I installed QRS mobile on my phone. It found my router and showed all the passwords. On Shareport under settings SharePort Mobile login I put the user name that I setup in Storage Shareport and also the password.
Under Remote Acess Setup I put http://192.168.0.1:8181 under port I put 8181. Is this the right config?

I dont think thats needed if your connecting to the LAN side WIFI. Maybe its only needed when your off site and connecting via WAN side, i think.

I fixed my problem. I reformatted my usb drive to fat 32 and added a Video folder. Now the Shareport app works. Thanks for the help.

NTFS should work well too. However if the USB drive had any other Original Mfr formatting on it that could be some form of proprietary, this would be a cause of the problem. DLink only supports the standard MS FAT32 and NTFS formatting systems. All others are not supported I believe. Glad you go it working and thank you for sharing the info. Enjoy.
