DCS-5635 no image in IE Explorer, and no sound from microphone

After some months of using DCS-942L cameras, this DCS-5635 sure is frustrating!  I can get an image from the camera in Firefox, but no sound.  When going to Motion Detection setup window, it tells me I must use IE Explorer to do this setup (no image appears to enable area selection).  However, in IE Explorer, no image appears in the Live Video page, and no image appears on the Motion Detection setup page (no image appears on the Image Setup page either).  What's going on??
