New UI is way too basic
« on: June 20, 2014, 12:16:11 PM »

I've had my DIR-880L for about a week now. It works great but I don't like the way D-Link have removed some features from their new UI. Many pages have an "Advanced Settings" button they could put...advanced settings under.

There is no way to disable WPS or WPA1. I copied this from another D-Link router UI:

Quote
For best security, use WPA2 Only mode. This mode uses AES(CCMP) cipher and legacy stations are not allowed access with WPA security.
[...]
To achieve better wireless performance use WPA2 Only security mode (or in other words AES cipher).

So in D-Links own words, the 880L is less secure and performs worse than their previous routers.

- WLAN status with signal levels.
- In-UI logging.
- Allow short passwords, not just blank or >=6 characters.
- Setting to increase or disable UI session timeout.
- Setting to always show advanced settings.
- Setting to show time in 24h format.

The software is still 1.0 so I'm hopeful D-Link will improve.

Thanks for your input and feed back. Yes, D-Link seems to be moving to a more less complex router UI with this router, as I've seen in other Mfr routers. I do miss the availability and advanced features of the other DIR series router UI and I do hope that D-Link will add too this nice router.

Please feel free to post here and will let D-Link know of your desires:

Thank you.

Yes, have to use Auto Channel width to get the nigher AC speeds. You can run 20/40 on AC however the connection speeds will be lower between the router and devies.
