Link>Welcome!

3rd Party Security Software Configurations
  • Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

What driver are you using?
It's possible that the driver and this model DWA is not compatible with Windows 7x64.

Well there is a Vista x64 driver on D-Links main web site however that was last done in 2007. I presume that maybe the Vista driver may work however still, it could not.
http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DWA-552

You should completely uninstall the current driver after you download this one. Then reboot and hit F8 on preboot to get the DOS Boot screen to load safe mode options. Select the Boot with Disable Driver Enforcement. Then proceed to boot and install the driver from the main site.

Let us know if this helps any.

What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?
What Mfr and Model is this main host router?
What security modes are being used on the main host routers WiFi? WPA WEP? WPA2? TPIK or AES?

Is the main LAN networking on the PC disabled while you install and connect this WiFi card? Disconnect the lan cable to be sure.

Ya if we can't get this going with out crashing, I would suggest something newer be installed that is 7 x64 supporting...

Possible that there is a HW compatibility issue where with Windows 7, PC HW and this card.
Did you install the PCs motherboard chipset drivers as well using up to date drivers?

This is the only thing I can think of is that this card is just too old be used in Windows 7....

Hi FRANKKGSPEED,

Nope, the card isn't too old for Windows 7 64-Bit, as I had to replace my Axper Motherboard, with an Asus Motherboard and used the same card. It connects to my D-Link DIR-655 A3 just fine. It also connected to my Verizon Router, too.

Just use Windows to connect to your Router, not the D-Link Software. Just make sure that the WLAN AutoConfig Service is set to Automatic, not Manual.
