Possible, I haven't attempted this however if you use Shareport v4.20, it should see the connected drive and mount it on the Desktop.

What OSX version and SP version are you using?

Does share port run on the MAC.  I thought it was for mobile devices?
If so where can I download it?
Thanks

I have shareport now working on my iPad, iPhone and PC running Windows XP but I cannot get it working on my MacBook Pro running OSx Mountain Lion 10.8.3 and running share port 4.2.0R1 sxuptp Driver 1.9.0

The disk can be seen but can't be mounted.  I get this error

There was a problem connecting to the server “DIR-826L”.

What is the drive size, Mfr and Model of your external drive your using?

Yes, I saw this same message and was unable to mount the drive at all. I was able to mount it using other router models I tested. I used OSX 10.7.5 and 10.8.3.

Can you tell me if you saw a "No Name Network Drive" in the SP app? I saw this as well which was different from the other routers I tested. The other routers showed an actual name of the drive. I was able to mount the drive on a Windows 7 PC.

Please phone this in to DLink support, ask for level 3 or higher support as this can't be resolved at the lower levels. I have sent this into my contact however I would like for you to phone this in as well. This will help get more visibility with DLink and hope it will get fixed sooner.

Mines a WD 2Tb drive as well, 2007 edition I think. Saw same issues.

Please contact Dlink support and post back if you find out anything. Be aware that they may not support this size as officially I think they only support 500Gb drives.  :-\

Keep us posted.

Thanks again
Interesting that I have the same issues with every usb memory device I use, no matter what the size.
It won't mount 1GB memory sticks either.

Seems like there is a problem in FW. Keep us posted on how it goes with tech support.

Called DLink Canada support and they told me that there no shareport utility for the MAC for the DIR-826L.  He confirmed that fact by showing that when I logged on to the DLink site there was no download available for share port under the DIR-826L
Instead I have to log onto the Router select storage and and manual setup and find the IP address for the drive which in my case is http://2xx.2x.2xx.6x:8181 and it does work.

I then have to map that drive with that IP address.
I just now have to figure out how to do that on a MAC.

Thanks for all your help.

Possible that the SW utility isn't supported fully. However in my testing Windows version of the utility works. Maybe officially DLink isn't supporting it on the L series of routers.  :-\

try using SMB:// when you hit CMD-K and see if it will connect that way. They didn't mention how to connect to the Storage link in Mac did they?  ???

Try this:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=52676.0
I probably should have mentioned this before.

Thanks for the info of how to map the drive.
They called me back to tell me how to map the drive as follows.

To map the drive on the MAC I pressed command K and then typed in
SMB://2xx.2xx.1xx.4x
Entered my userid and password that I had created for the storage access and now the drive is mapped and I don't have to enter the userid and password every time I want to access the drive.
So far so good.
Now just have to configure the Time Machine to backup to that drive.

Very impressed that they called me back.  The Tech wasn't a MAC specialist but he found out and phoned me back.
