Must be firmware. All of my cameras lose connection/video for a few seconds on average every 2 hour and 10 min, unless cameras have been constantly on more than a week, then it goes down to a few seconds every hour. It is different for each camera, but happens with all of them. Kinda hard if you just missed that important moment. But all are on LAN, no wifi, as video quality is too low when going wireless.

My guess is, that it might be some form of memory management (garbage collection or similar). that interferes with normal operation. In normal operation I swith off all cameras every night for 15 minutes, which keeps them 'in line' to just have the 2 hour 10 min interval. Not a perfect situation, but workable.
