Title: Orientation of Reset Button DIR 615 E4
Post by: A08 on July 23, 2020, 02:40:08 AM
I have almost 10 years old router, works fine with OEM GUI..
But the Reset Button (plastic button) has fallen down inside the router casing.
Therefore, Hard reset to go to router's Recovery Page is not possible.

Before I open the casing and attempt to put the button back in place, can some enlightened soul advise,
if the button needs to be placed in its place holder in a specific orientation vis-a-vis metal parts it is supposed to press.
Or it is not a DIY job.

Regards

I believe the switch is a 1 position 1 contact switch, the momentary pressure to make contact. If the button is still in good condition, it should hopefully work. You might try and find a similar or exact switch to re-solder in place.

Thank you.
I understand through ifixit that 2 numbers of antenna connectors require removal to have access to the bottom of PCB for de-soldering/re-soldering of button. Job for an expert, difficulty level 3.  :-\
Thanks again.

Something a electronics repair facility could help with.

Good Luck.
