Title: how to replace hdd
Post by: jologsako on April 08, 2018, 11:20:59 PM
Hi,

my raid config is standard and installed hdd1: 2tb and hdd2: 1.5tb (this is the one failing)
in system status  - hard drive info - the status of drive is marked as X, also it fails for SMART test, should i replace the drive? if yes how can i do this without loosing files on both hdd?

btw,  hdd2 is my drive for P2P and Volume_2 and my main problem is i cannot copy files in the P2P folder the network drive hangs up. but on the main drive Volume_2 theres no problem copying files

i already download the Ext2IFS_1_12, RStudio8 and nassetup. im also familiar how to recover files using these software. but im not sure if i can keep the data on the hdd1 once i install the new drive

another question is since DNS-320L is limit to 2tb per bay, is there any other way to add a 4tb drive? sorry im not familiar with raid types :)

I would try to copy the files off the 2nd HDD on to a PC that can temporarily hold the data. Once the data is off, then you can remove the failing drive and install another.

I would review this thread for what others have said that works for drive sizes in this model DNS:

There is some stating 4Tb drives in use.
