Hey Linksys is set to release this beast in Oct.

http://store.linksys.com/Routers/Linksys-EA6900-App-Enabled-AC1900-Dual-Band-Wireless-Router-with-Gigabit_stcVVproductId155849479VVcatId551966VVviewprod.htm (http://store.linksys.com/Routers/Linksys-EA6900-App-Enabled-AC1900-Dual-Band-Wireless-Router-with-Gigabit_stcVVproductId155849479VVcatId551966VVviewprod.htm)

1) staying with there current form factor
2) Duo-core processor (800MHZ) ;D
3) External antenna  ;D
4) increase in wireless bandwidth in the N and AC!!!!!

Touted as the HD media router, I think it will be a killer. Ever since Linksys was sold out to belkin, quality went down and their software sucked when it went cloud based, which many didn't like. This 1 is cloud based, hopefully it can be configured manually  :P

I haven't found any networking made by Belkin that great. The only thing they make that seems to work well is there KVM switches.  ::)

Wonder what D-Link will answer with, if any. Seems like Linksys/Belkin attemping to put there names back in the market. Still, not much call for these WiFi speeds. Seems like WiFi speeds are following the HDD size races of the past.   :o

Beam forming technology. Hmmm, wonder where they got that from?  ::) And how they can do that in a non 360 degree antenna format.  ???

I think this article is right not to include the DGL-5500 as a "Best Wireless Router For Gaming".
The DGL-5500 Router has been the worst router I have ever owned. (and the most expensive). Owned it since launch day and have hated it ever since. Heck, my old WRT54G is a better "Gaming Router" than this piece!

Still hoping for a acceptable Firmware Upgrade that makes this router worth owning!!

Post and lets go from there.

New - DAP-1665 Wireless AC1200 Dual Band Access Point (http://www.dlink.com/us/en/business-solutions/wireless/access-points/access-points/dap-1665-wireless-ac1200-dual-band-access-point)
Overview

The DAP-1665 Wireless AC1200 Dual Band Access Point is a fast and versatile solution for bringing wireless AC to an existing wired network, or extending the capabilities of an existing wireless network. The latest 802.11ac technology delivers combined speeds of up to 1200 Mbps1, creating a high-speed wireless link between networks for optimized performance and reliable coverage delivering high-quality HD video streaming, gaming and file transfers.

High-Speed Wireless and Wired LAN

The DAP-1665 features the latest 802.11ac wireless technology, capable of delivering combined speeds of up to 1200 Mbps over two bands. Use the 2.4 GHz band’s 300 Mbps for web surfing, email and chat, while simultaneously using the lower-interference 5 GHz band's 867 Mbps for network bridging, downloading, video streaming and file transfers. For wired connections, the Gigabit LAN port enables wired data speeds of up to 1000 Mbps, meaning that Gigabit-compatible wired devices can also benefit from the high speeds of wireless AC.

Versatile Operation Modes

The DAP-1665 can be configured to operate in several modes. Access Point mode allows the device to act as a central hub for wireless users, giving them access to an existing wired network.  Bridge-mode creates a high-speed wireless link between two wired networks (LANs), alleviating the need to install additional network cabling. Repeater mode extends wireless coverage of an existing wireless network to cover “dead” spots and reach farther into a business environment.  Bridge mode with AP adds the functionality of a wireless access point to a bridged network, so wireless clients can access resources on both networks. Wireless Client mode is available to enable the DAP-1665 to connect to another access point and provide network and Internet access to a remote wired device such as a gaming console or media center.
Operating Modes
• Access Point (AP)
• Bridge
• Bridge with AP
• Wireless Client
• Repeater

Different divisions.  The group getting shutdown was making the 2 halo movies and some other movie type projects.

Yea that part I understand.  Sounds to me that if you are someone who gets your hands on a disc copy of the game then you're golden.  If you download tho theres nothing that says the game will unlock on the xbox live side of things early just because bungie servers go live.  Again I hope it does but with it pre loaded it clearly says play on 9-9-14 where it would say launch usually

Hey Furry....

Any recommendations for an alternative to the HP ProCurve - model #J9449-60001?  I have two of these already and it looks like they're discontinued.  So, I'm looking for a "comparable" or "current model #  ;D

Thanks!   ;D

I guess I should've been more specific.  I'm looking to add a network switch (keeping my two current HP ProCurve Network Switches) and wanted to get the same model #, but they look to be discontinued.  So I was trying to figure out what was comparable.   ;D

They look to be 1GB network switches (10/100/1000)

Thanks Furry   :)

There are stick and button controls that are presets for games. Southpaw and default and a few others. I use legacy in CoD and Halo games. They didn't include it in this beta. Hope they will for the full game.

It's been a run. I wish things had been different up stream in the SB development section. I feel that it didn't get enough testing in the beginning to help find all the problems we found after it was released. We had such high hopes for the DGL line and this model router since the 4500 router which was great. Not sure if D-Link will do another DGL router as many factors are at play when designing and marketing routers. ISP speeds over 50 and 100Mb and the debate with QoS is one factor. Others as well. I hope current users have had good luck in there experience on this what was a bumpy ride. I'm sorry for those who didn't have such good luck. I'll recommend that if users are not having good experiences with there routers, if you haven't contacted D-Link about it, you may want to before the warranty period runs out and see if any if the problems can be resolved. If they can't, wouldn't hurt to ask for escalated support and maybe ask D-Link for an exchange to a different model router if possible. I can't promise anything. Worth asking though. The issues seen with this model router are not entirely D-Links fault and are with the 3rd party company who designed StreamBoost, QualComm. If they had done a bit more testing before integration pre and post, maybe some of the problems would have been less. Over all SB was a great idea and I liked the look and feel of the UI. Just the underlying code and operation didn't get enough testing and development on QCs part which is a shame. It's definitely left a bad taste all around making D-link probably not revisit that again.

I wish D-Link and there customers better luck in future. D-Link does have some good routers and the DIR series is good for gaming as well. I wish D-Link good luck in future development there and in there future routers.

Users are encouraged to continue posting about any problems seen and we'll do our best to help resolve them.

Good Luck.
