So I got this new adapter and its been amazing so far except for one thing, I easily max out my internet connection with tests/downloads etc, but if I am sending files over my internal network over the Wifi the internet speed drops to 1-2Mbps until the file transfers are finished, soon as they finish sending over the network the internet speed shoots up to 100Mbps+ again

Do you have Killer E2200 NIC/Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 chip?

Sorry been a busy month.

So yeah, the adapter does not work well, at all.

The connection stops/goes/stops/goes constantly with my PC, if you're sending data over a network it actually gets quite warm.

I just picked up a new one after a return of the last one and the same issues.

What region are you located?
What Mfr and Model # main host router do you have?
What wireless channels are you using on the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?

Will need this information...I hope we can help you figure this out.

Current beta, had the same problem with the previous firmware, tried the beta but no go

What hardware does the DWA 192 use? I could probably get up to date drivers from that manufacturer

Ok, not sure what HW the DWA uses, could be Atheros, QCA or Broadcom I presume. For model #, I don't know. Not sure if you can extract the HW info or not.

I'll see if I can get some additional eyes on this. I would recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office in Canada and advise them of this. This maybe a HW/heat issue with the 192.

Does the 192 have any air ventilation openings ?

Do you have a Windows 7 PC to test with by chance? Just wondering if this behavior is the same for 7 and 10.

Found it out through some various tech tear down sites

Also I think I fixed the problem, and its the dumbest damn thing possible, I'm testing now.

*EDIT* Testing done.

So yeah, you want to know how to restore your device back to full speed? This is going to make you laugh.

You need to

A) Enable Cortana
B) Enable Action center
C) Turn on "Location" in Cortana
D) Turn off "Location" In Action Center

And now the DWA-192 is performing flawlessly

The only reason I found this out was through an obscure, and I mean massively obscure post during the Windows 10 tests where some guy having wifi problems like me traced it down to Cortana and Action center with the Location setting enabled which bombs out your wifi

This is, quite frankly the dumbest windows setting I've ever seen affect a hardware setting in my life, and now my device works flawlessly

So yeah, you might want to get D-Link to get in on this, and report it to microsoft
