DSR-250 + Cisco VPN + IPv6 = Random disconnects.
« on: July 09, 2019, 12:40:13 PM »

When I connect to work using the Cisco VPN through the DSR-250 it works perfectly as long as I do not enable IPv6 on the router.  As soon as I enable IPv6 the connection keeps dropping and restarting. The VPN says it is discarding all IPv6 traffic, but it shouldn't be using any !  This is with the latest 3.14_WW firmware.  Currently there is no big deal in turning off IPv6, but the time will come when it is necessary and this will be unacceptable.  Having to reboot the router to add/remove IPv6 is an annoyance too.  I know this may simply be a Cisco problem (now at version 4.6),  but I thought I would point this out in case anyone else is suffering and hadn't guessed to turn off IPv6.

Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

If your ISP doesn't support native IPv6 services, then IPv6 should be disable. I agree that even if it's enabled, it should not be causing other router problems. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. Please bring this to there attention.

Region ... USA, Midwest.

ISP ... Comcast/xFinity.

The modem ... Arris SB8200.  It claims  in its "Events" that it has been set to IPv6 although outside tests say it isn't.
"Honoring MDD; IP provisioning mode = IPv6"

NordVPN has no problem with IPv6 enabled, it is only Cisco's one that has issues for me (maybe the way our company set it up).

It is not a big enough deal to pester DLink about at the moment :-)

Check out all configurations when the time comes. It may work when IPv6 becomes native.
Possible issue with Ciscos VPN as well.

Good Luck.
