Well, does not seem like iSCSI-support will be added in near future. Unfortunately, that forces me to sell my devices and buy QNAP or Synology. I was hoping that there were other manufacturers than those two who were able to build a stable NAS with CIFS, FTP, WebDAV and iSCSI but obviously that's not the situation.
Anyway, thanks for your help and support JavaLawyer - and happy Easter!

We're sorry to see you go. I have word that there is a DNS-320 firmware in QA (as it's been for quite some time), but no ETA on a release or what's changed.  :-\

I heard back from D-Link and was told that iSCSI will not be implemented on the DNS-320 b/c there's simply not enough horsepower to support the protocol. The DNS-320 is an entry level NAS and only the higher end ShareCenters can support that feature.

I would like a progress bar while transferring files in the browser GUI since when transferring large files the browser freezes until the process is over.
This freezing should be avoided.

« Reply #517 on: May 20, 2015, 05:17:16 AM »

If you would like to contribute to this list, please post your suggestions as a reply to this thread.

Below is a summary of everyone's input thus far. Please let me know if I over-generalized, misrepresented, or missed anyone's concerns and I'll refresh the list with updates. Recent items are highlighted in green. Items fixed in the latest firmware update are striked out.

If any items in the wishlist were fixed by the latest firmware, please post and I'll update!

Hi,
is there a date for releasing the next firmware update? This topic is silent since a long time..... :'( :'(
I'm interested to get ability to auto-refresh the media server contents when media files are added/moved/deleted, because the full update require a long long long time....
It should be also usefull to add the ability to mount .iso files as separate volumes.

Thanks

Not sure if any new FW is on the way or not. I see were coming up on two years since last release. I presume unless there's some sort of security issue or show stopper problem with the 320, there may not be any newer releases.

How many files are on the 320? I believe that cataloging is inherently slow or becomes slower as more and more files are added.
This unit used for general files or media files or mixed?

I presume your selecting a reboot or a manual re-fresh function to re-start the catalog process?

Thanks for your quickly answer...
My nas has 2 3TB WD disk, in mirror configuration, so I've near 3TB disk space. There are only 60 GB free. Largest part of the files on disk, probably some thousands,  are .jpg (photos, about 3-5 MB each one). There are also a lot of .m2ts video files, all greater than 1 GB, and approx 300 GB of other kind of files.
I've started a refresh before write my previous post (36 hours ago) and nas is still at 65% of job.
I'm really unhappy listening for no new FW, it's incredible that I've to wait for up to 50 hours to update the media server...

Thanks

I don't know if you are still waiting but if you are check that the drive LEDs are still indicating the there is drive activity.

If they are then you most probably have a set of folders and files that are not easy for the firmware to index.  Also remember that the unit CPU is not a very fast one and there is not a lot of spare memory for the process.

If, on the other hand, the LEDs are not showing any activity then something has caused the indexing to hang and there are several things that can cause that.  If it is a hung system then you will have to, unfortunately, start again but you should check that any new files you have added don't have something in the name that would cause conflicts with the Linux base system that does the work.
