Unable to connect after firmware upgrade
« on: December 15, 2016, 02:48:03 PM »

After a firmware upgrade a couple of months ago, my mobile app cannot find the camera anymore. It was a red circle with a while cross sign. On the device, the green light still lights up steadily. I had it reset, connected it by ethernet, but the issue was still there. It is unusable anymore. Does anyone have the same issue after the firmware upgrade? Thanks!

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

η
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
How many other wireless devices do you have connected to the main host router?
  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner to find out. How many?

I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool as a troubleshooting step: 192.168.#.93 DHCP

Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com

Mines been online contantlt this entire year...Been stable.

Thank you for your tips. The hardware version is 930LB, and the firmware version is 2.14.04. I am in northeastern US. I am pretty sure there is no internet connectivity issue, because when I did the debugging, I connected the camera through ethernet cable, and my phone was right next to the router (5GHz, no sharing channels with neighbors). I tried both enable port forwarding and disable. It didn't make a difference. It shouldn't since I only have this single one internet camera.

So far everything local is fine. When I tried to add the device to my mydlink account, it always timed out. Sometimes it pop-ed up the dialog window to confirm whether I want to add the device to my mydlink account, then it was an endless waiting then timed out. Most of the times there was endless waiting without the dialog box.

I strongly suspect it is a server side issue, rather than client side. Does it sound reasonable? Thanks!

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

It might not worth the time for me to call customer service, since I still have two little babies to take care of. I believe there is something wrong with port forwarding. The default port of the camera is 80, and I have a NAS server also using port 80 (now I am really surprised that the camera works fine a couple of months ago, before upgrading the firmware...)

My router (Verizon FiOS) seems not support UPnP, for security reasons, because when I enable UPnP port forwarding on the camera, I saw "gateway disabled UPnP" in the camera status page. I changed the port of the camera from 80 to $p, and disabled UPnP. Now I can access my camera through http://$my_public_IP:$p . But I still cannot add the camera to mydlink web account (it still said connection time out)

This is good enough for me. The only problem is, I don't have a static public IP address. I can set up a linux server just running a cronjob fetching my public IP and send it to my OneDrive. I stopped doing this since I got my NAS. Maybe I don't need it since I can set the motion detection and upload pictures to my NAS through FTP

It should be there?  ???

What FMr and model ISP modem/FIOS do you have?

My router model is Actiontec MI424WR-GEN3I, firmware version is 40.21.24

I have set the fire wall policy to low, and still, I can access the camera through http://$my_public_ip:$port, but the mobile app could not add the camera to my web account. If I set the camera use port 80, I can see the live feed from my mobile app, although it timed out when I tried to add it to my cloud account. Once I changed the port, the mobile app can never access the camera locally any more. It is understandable since the app didn't know the camera changed the port number, but I have to do this, since I need to reserve port 80 to something more important. To me, the mobile app needs improvement, i.e. allow users to define port numbers for each device.

What browser are you using?
The Canadian web site is up and running for me. I'm out of the USA for the holidays.
