Hi
I hope someone can help, I'm trying to factory reset a DGS-3426P as I no longer can recall the username/password. I have console access and have been trying to follow the password reset guide, where I hit SHIFT+6 at the right time. (Instructions were. - ftp://ftp.dlink.fr/DGS/DGS-3600/Manuel/Password%20Recovery%20Procedure.pdf)
Power on the switch. After the runtime image as loaded to 100%, the Switch will allow 2 seconds for the user to press the hotkey [^] ( Shift + 6 ) to enter the “Reset Configuration Mode”. Once the Switch enters the “Reset Configuration Mode”, all ports on the Switch will be disabled.
However that does not work for me, I just cannot get into the Rest Configuration mode ??
V2.00 -B52 Runtime Image
Any advice would be appreciated.

Please can someone help me with this?
Is it a case that the switch is worthless now?
-
How about now? Anyone?
It's lonely in this forum........

Did someone say something ? Hello?
Any thoughts/guidenc on this issue..?
-
I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and inquire about the Factory reset process.
-
Thanks @FurryNutz
Call already logged and back door password is being generated now.

Good to hear. Enjoy.

Hi @FuzzyNutz
I'm finally on via the back door password DLInk provided..
Next challenge though is to update the firmware, to the one in the dLink site however the instructions are in German and all the translators I have used do not make it clear what to do.
I'm on..
Boot PROM Version Build 1.00-B13
Firmware Version Build 2.00-B52
Any advice?

The PDF in the FW file for this switch on the German site is in English...

Thanks and it looks like there is a v3.00.B14 on the German site , compared to the UK d-link site ?
Considering the version I am on (shared above), do you see any reason why I can't just go straight to v3?
-
I recommend that if the switch is working for your needs currently or your not effected by any thing found in the release notes, keep what is loaded.
-
Thanks, that sounds like words of wisdom/caution (learnt from your own experience over the years ;) )
I'm using the switch now in a very basic capacity at the moment, but I'm looking to use it to learn more about networking as it has a number of config options.. But I don't want to risk screwing it up..
The UK site only show v2.70.B13 ?
-
I see that...yes the German site has more recent. You might ask D-Link support what they recommend. Download both for now and use what is on the UK site first if you feel like upgrading. If D-Link says using v3.0 is ok, then go for it. If your only using it in a basic way, then upgrading really isn't needed.

Hey ParkerC, I have one of these switches and I ran into the same troubles you did but I managed to sold all my issues logging into the switch via Telnet. Took a bit longer than I would have liked, but solved the problem none the less. Good luck!
