Ensure that your LT supports 5ghz wifi?

Laptop....

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

I am now considering buying a wireless usb adapter with dual band function. Have you any opinions on which one?

As you have seen in my other posts I am experiencing slow WIFI speeds when in a diffrent room to my router. If i buy this adapter for my laptop will the 5ghz signal improve the range and speed?

One of these could work for you:
http://www.dlink.com/se/sv/home-solutions/connect/adapters

One of the AC class adapters could help improve connections. Be aware that these adapters are based on the USB standard and there are currently 2.0 and 3.0. Depending on your LTs hardware and USB version, buy accordingly. If your LT doesn't have USB 3.0 support, get a adapter that is 2.0.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office or Sales office and ask them specifically about what would work best for you.

5Ghz isn't good with building materials between the source signal and client devices. Best in line of sight or 1 wooden all away. Nature of the beast with 5Ghz since it's such a high frequency.
