Missing disk space
« on: February 11, 2014, 06:46:25 PM »

Hi,

I have a 3tb seagate hard disk installed. It has been working for many months. I noticed missing disk space in the last few days. I am not sure it is related to the latest firmware. I just updated it to the latest one. There is only around 1tb of files on the drive, around 50% of pictures and 50% of other files. It reports 66% used which is around 2tb used. 33% of disk space is missing.

I ran scandisk and smart test. It came back without any issues. I have rebooted it a few times. Any ideas?

What firmware version was installed on the ShareCenter at the time the HDD was formatted?
Do you own a DNS-320 or DNS-320L?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I am new to this forum. I thought I am in DNS-320L forum. It should imply the model of my NAS.
The hard drive was formatted at 1.02b07 or earlier. I just have 1.03b04 installed. Thanks a lot for your help.

New members periodically post questions in the wrong product board.  If we were dealing with a DNS-320, then I would ask a slightly different set of questions.

Log into the DNS-320L web UI using a browser and navigate to Management > System Status > System Info.  What is listed under Volume Information?

Are you running any add-on apps on the DNS-320L which may be placing hidden files? (e.g. My Surveillance add-on, etc.)?

I played with My Surveillance settings a bit after the new firmware was installed. I did not realize it is recording. I got the space back. Thanks a lot.
