DIR-330 VPN doesn't connect when behind another router
« on: June 28, 2009, 06:20:26 PM »

Hello all. I recently purchased this router, and have had an issues getting it to connect when behind my current router. I have turn off UPNP and DCHP on the DIR-330, and have set up a VPN. (configuration below) I have connected my cable modem directly to the DIR-330, and it works fine. However, I never get a connection when I have it behind my current router, DI 624. If anyone could spare some time and point whatever I'm doing wrong, I'd greatly appreciate it.

DI 624 IP 192.168.0.2
DIR 330 IP 192.168.0.200

Connection Type PPTP
VPN server IP 192.168.0.200
    Remote Range   192.168.0.210 - 215
    Authentication Protocol MSCHAP v2
    Encryption Mode 128 bit

    Database Group 2

VPNs happen on the WAN interface, do not use this product behind another router.

I have PPTP VPN working behind another router, conecting with MS VPN Client remotely. Your trouble is most likely your IP address setup and port forwarding on front router.

Here is my setup:

1st router (one connected to ISP) uses 192.168.x.x (255.255.255.0) addresses on its LAN ports. DHCP can be on or off, your choice).
2nd router (DLINK VPN) uses static IP (192.168.1.254) on its WAN (internet) port.
2nd router uses 172.16.x.x (255.240.0.0) on its LAN ports.
1st router (one connected to ISP) has DMZ set on IP address 192.168.1.254.
