Author Topic: Anyway to set only specific folder/partition in media server?  (Read 4244 times)

Hello,

I have bought this DIR-2660 router. And it's running good. Cool. Nice range.

I have a 4 tb usb drive. It mounts fine for samba but it has too many videos in many folders. So it takes forever to scan through for DLNA and then doesn't scan the videos and songs I actually want in media share.

Is there any way to specify a specific folder for media share? I have it already setup from my prev. router with Fresh Tomato.

Or what would happen if I created multiple partitions. Could I set a specific partition for media server?

Thank you!

I don't believe you can specify different folders or partitions. Just scans the drive.

Best thing I would do is to connect the large drive with lots of data on it before you got to bed and let it scan over night as it may take a while.

Thanks for the reply.

Is there a limit to the number of files it can handle? Because for me it definitely stopped after 1481 videos. I'll try it again, I had disabled it and was just using the regular samba share for media as it has good speeds for it.

Not sure.
How many files do you have on the drive?

Not sure.

Probably way too many. But those aren't the files I would want on my dlna server. They're just there in the hard disk. I had created a separate folder for DLNA called "mserver".

Here you can see the actual no. of files versus the no. of files that show up.

I guess if I didn't have any other files in there apart from these, it might show them or to have an option to select a specific folder for DLNA.
