DNS-345 and sshd, dlna, twonky, fun_plug...
« on: November 18, 2012, 01:50:19 PM »

Hi,

I'm new here and also new in NAS tecnology. DNS-345 is my very first nas  and I have to say that is a really nice product. I *theory* it does absolutely all what I was wondering to do but I have a few questions about this nas and it's setup.

1/ What happens with Panasonic Viera tv's and the dlna sever provided in the nas? the tv finds the server but is unable to access the contents from the nas  ??? is this a known issue to be solved? What can I do to help DLink to fix it?

2/ I've read is possible to install Twonky Media Server (DNS-325/345) to solve this issue, deactivating iTunes/UPNP server though, but I think I blew a circuit in my brain last night trying to figure out how to install twonky.

More info here:

Sincerilly, I am somehow dissapointed that my DLNA certified NAS is unable to comunicate with my DLNA certified Panasonic tv!! Please, let me now wwhat can I do to help the firmware developers to fix this. Is a problem of Dlink or it is Panasonic's fault?

3/ Can I access the NAS via ssh? how do I install or run a sshd server in the nas?

4/ Here, http://nas-tweaks.net/264/d-link-dns-345-sharecenter-quattro-a-new-4-bay-nas/ in this review they say that DNS-345 is fun_plug enabled!! So? I don't need to install fun_plug to run Twonky media server in it?

thanks for any help , advice or guidance,

regards,
Luis

You may want to go to the dlink hack forum (just google for it).  The might help you out.

Hi, thanks for feedback.

I have just solved the first part: installing fun_plugz and enabling SSH daemon. I will now try to install a working UPnP media server for my Panasonic Viera (Twonky in this case).

I'll let you know how it ends.
