Eventually, it picked channel 6, also congested. I need 9.
Support keeps saying "turn off SmartConnect," but that is the selling feature of this device. There is no reason that they cannot allow the advanced settings to be accessed (to pick channels) when SmartConnect is on.

I also still have issues of the 5 GHz bands just shutting off totally. The firmware needs to be fixed.

24 hours and the congested channels are still the choice of Smart Connect.  After enough dropping on the 2.4 GHz side to earn me some glares I have turned it back off and manually configured all three bands.

Oh well.

The new (1.07) firmware still disallows picking channels if SmartConnect is turned on. D-Link does not seem to be listening.

SC is not designed nor allows of manual channel selection. This defeats the purpose of automatically selecting using it's programming.

There maybe an issue with you router. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

And yet, we all see the fundamental flaw in SC: It cannot see the traffic at the site of the receiving devices. Thus it picks the wrong channels. It would be trivial to all us to pick the channels.

Your level 2 support says "Turn off SC."  That defauts all the selling points of this router. How to we contact the chief product engineer for this?
