Able to restrict only 2 IP addresses at most per port?
« on: April 06, 2018, 06:20:45 PM »

Is there a way to restrict only 2 IP addresses at most per port?
I found a function: "Max Learning Addresses" under "Security/Port", could it be used for that?
What will happen if the device connected to the port is defective, and replace that defective one with a new device (e.g. PC)? need to restart the switch to "learn" again? or no need to do so?

Thanks

Yes, it can be set to learn 2 MAC address and each entry will have a "aging time" to remember disconnected devices. If you connect a new device too soon, it will trigger a violation and cause the port to shutdown, restrict or Protect.

Shutdown - port changes to err-disable state, send SNMP/Syslog.
Protect - cannot send traffic in.
Restrict - cannot send traffic in and send SNMP/Syslogs.
