DCS-825L Portability - Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi
« on: March 07, 2014, 10:40:35 PM »

Hi All,
Seeking some advice on moving the camera off-premises on the road or to other locations using its built-in Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi Access Point.
I have a 5000mAh battery which can plug into the microUSB port to power the camera for at least 4 hours, or might want to set it up on mains at a relative or carer's house.

I am running latest FW 1.02b3427 and have currently set the camera up (through Mobile App and Web or Web) with it's AP Client connecting to my home Wi-Fi network (in "Infrastructure" mode).

It seems the that the original Wi-Fi AP ("Ad-Hoc") service is shut down as soon as the AP Client is configured, and there is no way to get it back (other than a pin-reset?).

XML source from http://ipaddr/cgi/admin/tools_admin.cgi shows: supportAPMode is 1, apEnable is 0 when clientEnable is 1.

Just FYI for anyone needing this info.
The latest FW (1.4) and guides are much more complete than they used to be.

The process to enable the camera's Wi-fi AP Router:
- Wait for the camera to boot up.
- Hold the '+' (volume up) button for 5 seconds and the temperature light will start to blink.
- The "AP Router" function of the camera will enable.
- On your phone/tablet/laptop mobile device, you'll be able to find a 'myBabyCam-xxxx' Wi-Fi network to connect to.
- Once you're on the camera's network, the camera functions will be available on IP address: 10.255.255.1.

Note: If you want to change the name (SSID) or password for this access point, the configuration page is:
