I am not sure what is the problem? but this might help you....Open Search Utility...then press Configuration.  Do not use the browser to type in your IP.

You can also give the reset button a try.

I'm trying to login via puTTY but it doesn't like my password:(
A while ago I installed fun_plug but I guess I never configured it correctly.

I'm still able to ping it.

Any ideas?

where you able to access the NAS via telnet after installing funplug?
did you try a hard reset on the unit?
try logging in without any drives present in the NAS after the hard reset

I never got a chance to try it after I installed it.
I tried reset button I tried removing drives - no luck. Power button keep flashing.
I still can ping it. I installed Ext2 - I can't see it there too.

I guess it's gone:( ?

What does 1.09 fix? Shouldn't there be a sticky telling us this? If it's not essential, I'll stay at 1.08 to avoid bricking mine.

First - if you want to know what was fixed or added in a firmware release - or for that matter anything else pertaining to that firmware release, the place to check is the firmware release notes.  You will find those on the firmware download page.

Second - 1.09 fixes nothing, it adds online backup.

Third - there is no inherent danger in upgrading to 1.09 - or maybe I should phrase - no more danger than any other firmware upgrade.  If you are using any add ons that modify the standard firmware, manually edited your config files to change the behaviour of the standard DNS-323 - then it might be a good idea to return your DNS-323 to a standard configuration before doing the upgrade.

Blinking power light is not a good thing.  This happened to me with my previous unit.  Luckily I was able to return and exchange it with the vendor.  i think it is the result of a corrupt boot sector.
Did you get your's working?
