https://au.mydlink.com/download shows latest firmware v1.14 but http://support.dlink.com.au/Download/download.aspx?product=DCS-2330L shows v1.12 as latest. which is correct please? If v1.14 from which ftp site is it sourced?

Not sure about your region, but I tried 1.14 and found the ir light was on in low power during the day and night when is supposed to be off.  Very bad for behind a window. I went back to 1.12

the MDL site would be the latest the D-Link Australia has to offer. There main support site may have not been updated to reflect v1.14.

I recommend if your camera is working, don't upgrade. You an try it and if it doesn't work out well, you can down grade back.

Can you connect to the camera if it's connected via LAN cable to the main host router and use a browser to connect to the IP address it gets from the main host router?

What wireless modes are you using on the main host router and security modes used?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
How many other wireless devices do you have connected to the main host router?

I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool as a troubleshooting step: 192.168.#.23  DHCP (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58017.0)

Can you set AES or Mixed TPIK and AES on the main host router? AES is preferred mode.
If on Mac, use FF browser for best configuration with the camera if you can.
See if the camera will connect to the 5Ghz radio as well...

If she can wire the camera to the router, and open port 80, you should be able to login to the camera.

There might also be an option to remote admin the router.

You might try just factory reset the camera. Then go thru the set up wizard.

One thing you can do while your working remotely and might be helpful, try using www.teamviewer.com (http://www.teamviewer.com). It's a safe remote access program between two PCs. I use it all the time when I need to help out others with router problems and can't be there on site.

If you can gain access to the camera while it's connected while the camera is LAN cable connected to the router, you should be able to go into it's web page and configure the wireless networking to connect to a different SSID name  for 5Ghz. Be sure that your main host router is running N mode on 5Ghz.

open port 80 - did you mean inbound? outbound allows all ports.
i opened inbound port 80 to LAN 192.168.0.28 which will be cameras static IP but now i can't remote the router even though that's on port 8888? any ideas?
silly me-now a factory rest router i fear.

I don't think a reset of the router is needed. If you can have her install Teamviewer on her pc then attempt to work with the camera that way before doing any router configurations or factory resets should be avoided.

Shouldn't initially if your trying to just get it set up first. Then you can associate with mydlink for remote access from there.

What is the Mfr and model of the ISP modem? Does this modem have a router built in?

Lets get the camera connected and set up on LAN side first then go next step with remote.

neither of her machines have an ethernet port so she'll need to buy a USB to ethernet adapter.
i take it the setup wizard must be done on a wired connection ie
camera to router ethernet
laptop to router ethernet

OR
is it only because using a wifi connection to the camera is possible to drop out?
is the same true for a laptop running setup wizard via a wifi to router?

pls confirm.
thanks

If the PC can be wireless to the main host router and the camera wired LAN cable to the main host router that should work.

Just need to check the model of the ISP modem to make sure that it doesn't have a built in router as the NetGear router should be the only router online.

i have been on the TPG Australia website but can't find any info on their end. However, they have allocated my sisters BB a static IP. Not sure how telling this may be.

If the PC can be wireless to the main host router and the camera wired LAN cable to the main host router that should work. - can do this and will try first.

she has only 1 router, no booster.
thank you.

To tell if the modem has a built in router, look at the NG routers web page, Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field then the ISP modem has a built in router, if you see ##.##.###.### then the ISP should be router free.

Title: Re: dcs-2330l is v1.14 or v1.12 latest firmware?
Post by: FurryNutz on December 15, 2016, 08:56:34 AM
Yes, then the modem doesn't have a built in router and the only router is the NetGear. This is preferred.

A/C?

If it asks you if you already have an account, you should be able to pick "already have an account" then it should display a section where you can enter in the MDL account info. That is if you want to you use your already working account for this camera.  ??? Create a new one if you don't.

hi
earlier you said to try the 5G network but to ensure 802.11N was on. i am ignorant of this. it appears there are 3 options but based on speed? viz:
up to 289Mbps
up to 600Mbps
up to 1300Mbps
it was on 1300 but manual 'D6300_UM_05Nov12.pdf' page 38 states up to 300Mbps ?
i see no where else to set 802.11N
where as on my router i can specify which 802.11 to use.
can you clarify please?

Post by: FurryNutz on December 15, 2016, 12:11:47 PM
"up to 289Mbps" is N mode, however "up to 1300Mbps" would include N mode and AC mode. If your using the router with devices that support AC mode, leave it at 1300Mb. If your not using any devices on 5Ghz that support AC mode, then you could set it back to 289Mb for N mode only. You an change this later on if needed.

hi
i'm back
Can you connect to the camera if it's connected via LAN cable to the main host router and use a browser to connect to the IP address it gets from the main host router?
yes connected via cable after reset button 10 sec. can see in router 192.168.0.10 and reserved this IP for the cams MAC. i can connect to cam using admin / blank password.
if we have to download and run setup wizard from https://au.mydlink.com/download this could take a few hours she isn't computer literate / savvy.
so what should i do now? can next setup be done from phone [have an account] or from wired connection above?
cheers
btw at bottom of live video it is profile 2 that is yellow. shud it be profile 2 ?

in the FAQ :
Do I Need the Setup Wizard to Add a Camera to mydlink?
it states setup wizard not required, can use mydlink app. i'm in UK cam is in Aus - this doesn't find camera
i use chrome in win xp and can see live video of wired cam to the Aus router
can you confirm i can setup camera using this connection in place of downloaded setup wizard pleae?

These are two different regions and I'm not sure if you can connect to the AU camera while in UK since your UK app points to the UK MDL services there.

Has the camera been fully set up at the AU site and fully associated with the MDL service in AU?

MDL = mydlink services.

If the camera is in AU then you might see if you can access the cameras UI web page and see if it can be associated with the MDL service in AU. I don't know if it can be associated in UK. I don't believe it can be. The setup software maybe needed.

I would use Team viewer and connect to the remote PC and then access the cameras web page there and see if it has a mydlink feature listed under set up where you might be able to input the MDL user name account info there. if it doesn't them run the set up software from that PC.

If you can get into the cameras web page, look under setup networking or wireless. There should be a wireless SSID section where you can have it scan and look for wireless SSIDs. Use this to see if you can see the 5Ghz radio SSID name coming from the main host router. Be sure it's enabled and set for N mode, WPA2 and AES.

Try temporarily disabling WPA security to see if the cameras sees the 5Ghz SSID name. Reenable after testing.
