Hi,
So spent an hour or so reading through the forums about recovering data from DNS-320L hhd. However, was still needing some help.
So my DNS-320L wouldn't boot today, it has been playing up and requiring restarts daily. The power blue light just blinks, and the hard drive lights stay solid blue. I can't access the Web-UI etc.
I have two 2TB drives in RAID-0. I usually have a back-up but I was running out of space so had to format my 2TB external to create more space (I know stupid mistake).
Anyways I figured out how to get the DNS-320L to boot. It boots when I pull one drive out or have both out but it doesn't boot if both are in. I've narrowed it down to one drive being the problem. It produces errors when trying to do a disk scan. I'm guessing the DNS-320L is doing some check on the RAID and failing but I don't get why that fails the boot process. It should still boot and then in the web-ui show drives undetected etc.
So I"m wondering what my options are to get the data off the RAID-0 disks or repairing the disks. Has anyone had any luck putting the RAID-0 drives in a external dock like the following: http://www.cavalrystorage.com/en-cahdd-d.aspx . I don't have access to a computer (only laptop) so trying to look for external dock solution to access drives or recover data. I saw http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50772.0 and http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58580.0 but how does that work while in RAID-0, don't both drives have to be connected together?
I was thinking of buying a new HDD, then buying two of these (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005B3VO24/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=37IK9L8D9EYO2&coliid=I2XP8TPBIU3GSR) and doing a sector by sector copy of the failing drive to the new drive. Say if that copied successfully, would it work if I plugged the new drive in? It would in theory just think it's the original drive in the RAID right?
Any help would be much appreciated.
