Title: DCS-2132L-ES
Post by: Thadiusdog on September 12, 2016, 12:26:58 PM
Greetings,
I have a DCS-2132L-ES which came with a SAGE home automation kit.
The company decided to discontinue the SAGE.
I'd like to use the camera in a Samsung Smart Thing set up but it doesn't pair.
I bought a DCS-2132L and it works great.
I figure it's just a F/W issue with the ES camera.
I called tech support and they were no help.
Tried to update/upgrade/change the FW and it says "Firmware is corrupted"
I can ssh into the camera and see the filesystem.
Not really sure what to do?  Any thoughts on how I might flash the standard FW to it?
Current FW is 1.00-ES.12

Thanks in advance!
Ed

Not sure if OEM FW can be put on this model camera since it was a package with this SAGE system. There are differences in HW. Sorry,

AH, glad you had the knowledge to do that. Not everyone has that.

Enjoy.  ;)

Greetings All,
Sorry for not replying sooner...I've gotten inundated with other projects.
I'll pull out one of these cameras when I get a chance and post something when I have something useful.

How did you do that?  I am having same issue I got the ES camera without realizing that its different and can't get it work via app, or can't even get into GUI.  I tried the restore where i put firmware on sd and held reset on power and no luck.

I also have the Sage DCS-2132L-ES camera and can't upgrade the firmware from dlink and of course can't get it to work in the Dlink app.

Is the recompiled firmware "fix" available for download?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello, I bought several new in box DCS-2132L-ES not knowing they were with Sage. Anyways, from what I've read I understand it is possible to access the web gui by the cameras IP address. I am very familiar with this process and was what I was intending anyway. I can see the cameras IP adress of 192.168.1.100 however I can not pull up the interface. I've been trying for about 3 hours now with everything I can think of. I read there could be something with a location firewall in this particular model. I even tried to change the firmware but that did not work.

My question: Is there anyway in 2022 to make a DCS-2132L-ES work at all? Is there some info on how to manually flash? I tried putting the upgrade.bin on the microsd card but that did not seem to work.

Thanks for your help, I bought 5 of these new on eBay and debating if I need to do a return.

Thank you!
- Andrew

Just in case anybody is still working with these cameras.

Here's some notes on how to work with the camera.

Web Access:

1)     Allow camera to connect via DHCP to network
2)     Grab MAC address from back of camera
3)     Run:  arp –a    to find out mac to IP correlation
4)     Once IP found use https://<ip address> in web browser
5)   NOTE:  I think you can reset the camera with the reset hole in the back ( use a paper clip)

Default login: admin
Password: is blank.

To load the  firmware on the camera.  This can be done in 2 ways.

SD Card

1)     Put the FW on a micro SD card in “upgrade” directory.  Must be formatted as FAT32
2)      Put the SD card in the camera  with no power
3)     Hold the reset pin while plugging the camera power
4)     Hold for about 20 seconds then let go
5)     LED should flash while in the process of loading firmware
6)     Will turn green once finished… usually about 2 minutes

Web Gui

1)     Navigate around in the web gui and find where to update the Firmware
2)     You should be able to browse on your computer to find the right firwmare ( this is the file I sent)
3)     Then click upgrade button … will take about 2 minutes and LED will turn green on front
4)     This method will work but since it’s done over the network its not as reliable

Can you explain the mac and arp -a command? Would that show a different IP address other than what is showing up on the Network screen in windows? Also, for the firmware, I've tried several versions but none seem to work except the ES version which still doesn't allow me to access the web interface. I've read there could be a firewall in these preventing USA access, were these only sold in the UK and that is why they work for some users and not others?

Seriously, this should not be that hard but I think something is blocking them. I bought 5 brand new in package on eBay not knowing they were special for Sage etc. I've been setting up IP cameras for 15 years doing the port forwarding and the whole 9 yards. This is a new hurdle for me.

OK, I think I may have got it working with the custom firware. Thadiusdog if it's ok with you I'll make a tutorial on how I got mine working.

Glad to hear you got it working.  Feel free to make a tutorial as it might help someone in the future.

Question: When you say you couldn't access the web interface with the ES version of firmware... are you seeing a white page with the video and an option to update the firmware?  If so, that is the version from D-Link.  Because the camera was meant for the SAGE Home Automation System, D-Link did not include their standard web gui interface in the firmware they released and/or they only released a version with the parts that are licensed under GPL.

For clarity:

1) Other versions of firmware for the 2132L camera don't work because the flash map is different for the ES cameras.  Basically the ES camera uses a different part of memory to load the operating system.

2) The SAGE product was only offered in the US as SAGE/ES cameras were designed to be used with Dish TV.   There is no strange firewall on the camera.  Also, just read an ebay review online about how they were not offered in the US and Dlink "region locks" their devices.  Very funny but very untrue with this camera.  The reason it cannot connect to the MyDlink service is it was never assigned a MyDlink number.   If you look at the non ES version it will have a MyDlink number on the sticker on the back of the camera ... the ES versions don't have the MyDlink number  :)

3) arp -a   :  This is a command run from a Windows command line.  It will show the mapping of MAC address to IP address.  A MAC address is a unique set of numbers and characters (hex) assigned to a network adapter.   The MAC address for the camera should be on the back.  We do this to find the IP address so we can connect to the camera since it is set up to acquire the IP address by DHCP.

More info here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address)

 Ex:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>arp -a

Interface: 10.0.0.2 -
  Internet Address      Physical Address      Type
  10.0.0.100            03-4a-11-9f-f1-7d     dynamic

Your Firmware is what made mine work. Once I loaded the firmware on the micro SD card and it went though it's things. It worked immediately like it should and like I am used to seeing.

Thank you for helping make this work. I'll post the firmware along with a quick video tut asap. Let me know otherwise. Thx!

Looking forward to this information. I bought 4 of these ES a few years back and was able to flash the FW on the 21332l-ES to 2132l-B version...can't remember how I did it now..but can not update the new ones I bought. The Sage ES cameras would not connect to the D-link cloud directly, but they do connect to the NVR-202 which does connect to the Cloud, so the cameras were all reachable via the D-Link cloud app.
