655-RevB Log WTF?
« on: December 27, 2010, 07:40:40 PM »

Can someone help interpret this ****.  Tonight my parents router sent me this log.  The RevB logs are less than worthless to me normally, but this one is even worse.  I'm not sure what's going on in this log.  The dates are reset and it almost looks like firmware was installed...  I did take out their IP info and replaced it with xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.

BTW I logged in remotely I do not have Debug Information enabled for the logs, just System Activity, Attacks, and Notice.

SAME here, man.
Check a few posts (down) and you'll see mine on this same subject.
I don't know if it is ALL of the RevB hardware or just a select few of them (like we have) that have logs from hell.
Definitely not worth looking at - none of the "regular" type of information is there - just that garbage.

I will be returning mine in a week and getting another one.
Hopefully it works better than the one I have now.

Yes your logs/experience matches mine, total garbage.  There is no "useful" info in the logs at all.  If the "junk" was thrown in with same type info and the RevA logs, that would be OK.  This latest log is still pretty weird.  I did find out my Mom rebooted the router due to lost wireless connections, which may have caused the weird log with wrong dates and stuff.  I have a RevA and so does my sister.  In hindsight I should have had my parents return the RevB as soon as I saw the first log and hope for a RevA...  Too late now since they bought it middle of Oct...

Maybe I should call D-Link and get it a RMA like thecreator posted...  I just dread tech calls.

Same here -- rev B 2.00NA

The logs are useless. Sometimes they're empty and other times they convey completely useless information -- such as DHCP IP leases without saying who it was leased to!

The OP's log looks like he has turned on the Debug log items (they are off by default). I turned them on once and not only was the info I got useless, but I think the router crashed when I did it, too...

I also have a Rev A DIR-825 and the log is very useful. Is this just a Rev B issue?

Like I said, I do not have Debug checked (I triple-checked that it is not).  I have (2) 655 RevA's that are fine.  The original posted log happens after a reboot.

This is my log from the last few days (with IP's and email address removed):

I checked my Logs page today and, even though the router has been up for 2+ days, the logs are completely empty. They had info in them yesterday but now there are no entries.

The logs feature is completely screwed up.
