DCS-932L has gone blind
« on: August 02, 2011, 08:13:23 AM »

... but still accessible from the network.

According to the status, everything is still working well.

No preview available, no image in motion detection and doing an ftp test returns an error of no image available.

Only been operating a few weeks -- very disappointing!

Time to contact support, I suppose.

Can you see an image using the web interface (under live video)?

No video using either ActiveX or Java in either Live View or Motion Detection.

Just submitted a tech support email under the problem of "No/poor video".

I can telnet (?!) into the camera which reports:
BusyBox v1.12.1 (2010-12-20 15:39:55 CST) built-in shell (ash)

If tech support is slow to respond, I'm going to dig around see what I can find ... [nope, /var/log is empty]

You can go into the web interface and save the DCS-932L configuration file to your local PC; reset the camera to the factory defaults (using a paperclip in the pinhole on the rear of the DCS-932L); and walk through the wizard CD. From there you can upload your configuration file.

I've been advised by tech support to do the hard reset -- no dice. Still blind.

If you can't get the DCS-932L to work on your own, your last option is to call tech support, have them walk you through a fix, and if that fails, request an RMA for a new device.

Had a similar problem on my BF pc. No video would show on Mydlink. We had to make an exception rule from the AntiVirus (MSE) for java.exe. Also check your firewall. Hope it helps. :)

Thanks for the advice, but it worked perfectly for about two weeks.

No changes to the firewall as it was being accessed only within the LAN.

Have gone through 3 Level 1 and 2 Level 2 agents with about two dozen iterations of "please access the camera's website -- do you see anything?"

Now in the middle of the RMA process. Given this and the "fun" with the DIR-655, I'm likely never going to recommend D-Link again.

If it's any consolation, the replacement DCS-932L that I just received via RMA, in concert with a firmware update to v1.01, is much more stable and robust than the problematic camera I returned. Hopefully you'll be in better shape after you receive a new unit.

Just received RMA replacement -- setting up now to test with new 1.01b3 firmware.
