I now reboot the router daily. At least the GUI allows me to reboot without having to go to the router and unplug the cord.

Too bad the return period is over for Amazon. DLink should recall this product, or at least post updated firmware. The problem is worse (for me) when wired ports are connected. With only wireless clients, router can go upto seven days without needing reboot, with mixed connections, every two days.

DLink tech support is useless, kept asking me to call in since they do not believe I have a B1 rev.

I'm getting this problem again, it's intermittent. Really D-link?

What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?

What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1.
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

Link>Wireless Installation Considerations
What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced.
Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition, and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using Link> teamviewer if your interested. Its safe and secure.
I'm getting this problem again, it's intermittent. Really D-link?

Has someone here tried v2.01 on their router yet?

Let's hope the problem is now fixed.

Sorry if my other post was a bit too vague.

What I could add is that this router was bought for persons with limited computer knowledge.

All they did after is complain about loosing their internet connection everyday. Power Cycling the router was enough to get things running again for a day or two.

My troubleshooting over the phone reveiled that:

Cable modem worked fine with the computer connected directly
Web interface (192.168.0.1) was unreacheable, since no computer could get a DHCP lease by either WIFI or Wired ports.
PC connected had Ethernet Carrier, but assumed a 169.x.x.x default IP.
Resetting the config and redoing a basic setup had the problem again in just a few days.

Replacing the router with a "competing brand" solved the issue for them. Unfortunately, for the price I paid the Dlink one, it was not economically to RMA it, return it or even take time over the phone with technical support.

Seeing this thread (and a few more on other forums) made sense to me this was an unsolved issue of the B1 board. I now had a new hope that a firmware release other than the factory one might help with this issue.

Well there is a reason why i post the questions and suggestions. I highly recommend giving them a try. Many other factors can contribute to presummed router mal-function, just not FW.

Keep us posted on the newer FW update and results. Good luck.

Is there any firmware upgrade for this piece of garbage?

I'm having the same problem... I have been resetting the damn thing countless times and now I'm about to throw it thru the window!

I want to be refunded if there is no solution to this problem.

Thanks,

... like a charm!

Unless you get disconnected again...

Seems like I don't have to reset the router to have my connection renewed. Great!

That's an upgrade but it will still get a taste of the winter.

I quit.

Hola.

I am having the same issue.

I have my rogers modem connected to the dir-601 router. I have two other wireless routers up stairs so I turned wireless off completely on the dlink as it sits in my basement. I just rerouted cat6 to those wireless routers and connected them to the dlink. I changed the default IP addresses and used the insider software to setup the wireless routers with the most optimal channels.

I turned logging on so I can track activity. But I noticed something strange. The time stamps on the logs would reset to some factory date and the current time would b incorrect. Under Tools/Time, I would manually set the time. However, it would reset again the next day and my internet connection would b lost. Today I changed it to automatic time configuration using the NTP.link.com.tw using the ntp server. I will eventually setup my own email and media streaming server and was hoping to leverage the dir-601 for this. For the price I paid it seemed like a good idea. I have had this router for just a little over a week now.

I am fairly impressed with the amount of options available for the router but this rebooting business is starting to get old. Hopefully the settings you suggested work. My last option will b to install the latest firmware (NA2.1?). I don't mind tinkering around with the settings, so if there is something else to try, let me know.
