thanks for your advice. the QoS limitation is only when QoS is activated? or is this not even relevant because some older models are not capable of higher simultaneous transfers?
I thorougly check smallnetbuilders for reviews before I buy, but for 5 bucks I couldn't resist the dir 645.

QOS can be deactivated or enabled.

Ya, not a bad deal for 5 bucks. I think I paid $80 for mine back then.  ;)

so without QoS the DIR 645 does almost gigabit speeds.

Wow, didn't think it would be capable. Well definitely worth checking out when you get your higher service. Ya, QoS will be capped at 100Mb if I remember. Back then, wasn't much 1Gb ISP services available.  ::)
