64 simultaneous smb users maximum

Does anyone know how to remove the 64 simultaneous users limit. I use dns-320/327's in primary schools as file servers, using fun_plug to create user directories etc. However, I am now approaching the point where, in some of my larger schools, 64 simultaneous users are not enough. Will the "max smbd processes" option in samba override the default 64. Where is the 64 users specified? Not in the smb.conf file.
