Uh-Oh the firmware police are out! Lol! It says right on the D-Link website....

"NOTE:  To ensure your product has the latest security updates and operates at optimal performance, it is recommended you update your product to the latest firmware after installation and to periodically check for new firmware releases. Updates can be found by searching your model name at support.dlink.com  or though the mydlink mobile applications for mydlink registered devices. Customers are also notified of firmware updates via the mydlink.com portal."

It's a firmware update not open heart surgery ;). I just installed it keep you posted!

-----------
NOTE: if your DIR-880L router is working with out any issues, it's recommended to keep the current version of FW that is loaded unless your are effected by one of the fixes. Use at your own risk.

IF IT WORKS, DON'T FIX IT!!!  ::)
-----------

A casual user will think that because they haven't experienced any problems they should ignore the security and bug fixes. If a router is compromised, EVERY DEVICE ON THE NETWORK is compromised! A DNS redirect or UPnP compromise and a bad actor can turn a network inside out!

Remove it!

FurryNutz:
Yep is sure is, just FW.  :o

And if users read the fine print dealing with this FW update, it's just the removal of the HNAP code. The feature was disabled by default in prior builds.  ::)

I've got it loaded, just haven't had time to test it out yet.

Let us know how it works for you and if you find any new items. ;)

I installed 1.08 Build 04 and works fine so far; it still does not enable Dynamic DNS Manual option which I wanted to use with dnsomatic.com ; I did get the Dlink Syslog feature to work using Syslog Watcher V4; Syslog entries shows the Dynamic DNS does work for dlinkddns and dyndns options but the manual option which I need does not work; the syslog entries show authentication attempts for dlinkddns and dyndns when they are selected and saved; but no attempt at connection shows in the syslog when the "manual" option is selected and saved.  It would be nice if a listed feature works or some message to indicate something goes to the syslog - otherwise why show it as an option?

FurryNutz:
I presume that the 880L may not support a manual or custom any DDNS service option. Only the presets for dlink and dyn.

You may want to contact D-Link support and ask them if they could add the custom DDNS option.
