Help: DSL-2740E
« on: April 04, 2015, 07:55:51 AM »

Hello to you all,
I have a DSL-2740E with a "custom" firmware from a Brazilian company.
Does someone know if it is possible to install the original firmware into this dsl modem/router? And PLEASE where i can find that original firmware.

Super thanks in advance,

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your modem? Look at the sticker under modem.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the modems web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Is the modem owned by the ISP service company? If so then it's not recommended to put other FW on it as it's owned by them and may violated there policy. If it's a retail modem owned by you then it maybe possible..

FurryNutz,
Thank you!!
On the sticker, right under the MAC ID, I found:  F/W:DSL_2740E_1.00_BG_20140507
This modem is given free for a year of loyalty and I no longer use this company.
Would like to use it as a wifi extender of my actual fiber optic router.

Thank you again!

Well you could review this to see if you can get D-Link FW on it:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=62186.msg251901#msg251901

However I don't see any FW avialable for it for your region:

Thanks again!
If the Brazilian D-link would have a new FW available i would try it, but as you seen... they donīt have anything there.
I've tried once to FW from another model, i think it was 2740R ou U but i got a message saying that the file was too big.
Please if you think about something else or have any other suggestion...  :D

Might phone contact D-Link Brazil to see if they can provide any FW. I don't know if they will or not.

Good Luck.

I recommend that you phone contact your ISP support office and ask for help and information regarding this. If this unit was provided by the ISP, then it may have there own FW and support features which will need to be addressed directly with the ISP since it's there HW. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Sorry.
