I have a DIR 825 - we use in our home-
I have the 2ghz and the 5ghz modes turned on
this router works great we have a strong signal all over the house and up to a half a block away.

The problem is when we turn on the guest zone - 2ghz - for guests we have in our home our main 2ghz network goes in and out - it drops users.  Turn off the guest mode and system runs perfectly.
The guest zone never seems to drop.

We just want to offer for students living in our home - the ability to access the internet without giving them access to our network.

Any ideas or solutions?

You can try setting a fixed channel to your SSIDs.

Example:
Main (2.4GHz) = channel 1
Guest (2.4GHz) = channel 11
Main (5GHz) = channel 36
Guest (5GHz) = channel 165

I don't find a way to set the channel on the guest zone?

Yeah, you're right... it doesn't have that... I tried my own router and the guest zone uses the same channel as the main network.
I'm not experiencing that problem. You might wanna try updating your firmware.
